KUALA LUMPUR: The family of Vijayalakshmi, who tragically fell into an eight-metre-deep sinkhole on Jalan Masjid India on Aug 23, conducted a final religious ceremony at the site before returning to India.

Low-lying areas in Krishna and Guntur districts were inundated due to heavy rain and overflowing tanks and lakes.Residents said they spent sleepless nights. According to the Andhra Pradesh State Development Planning Society, Mangalagiri in the Guntur district received 278.5 mm of rainfall on Saturday.
