Austin broke the record on Friday for the longest streak of triple-digit temperatures the city has ever experienced. The unrelenting heat comes as students start physical activities that can put them at risk for heat exhaustion or even heat stroke.
A little shade and a lot of water help band students cope with the record-breaking heat. Everyday band director David Mobley and his students try to drain gallon-size jugs of water.
