Released in 1995, Heat, which chronicles the showdown between obsessed cop Vincent Hanna and slick bank robber Neil McCauley , has become one of Mann's most beloved films.
While the project still isn't quite a sure thing, the filmmaker reveals that he has various filming locations already planned out and that audiences can expect the film to have a runtime similar to that of the two-hour and fifty-minute original. Check out Mann's comment below: “So it’s large. And it’s going to go, you know, we would shoot in Paraguay, and shoot that last day where we shot a number of days in , and it was a very wild place. And then also in Mexicali, in Chicago, in L.A., and then in Southeast Asia. Probably Batam, which is right across from Singapore.”
Heat 2 casting rumors have pegged Adam Driver as a top choice for a young McCauley, while actor Austin Butler is reportedly being eyed to play a young Chris Shiherlis, the role played by Val Kilmer in the original. So far, casting has not been confirmed, but firearms expert and instructor Taran Butler recently told Corridor Crew that he was training Butler for his audition. "I don’t see them going with anybody else," he told the YouTube channel.
