For 23-year-old Haslina Kalang, her hard work paid off when she finally got her degree in International Relations but the big day did not happen the way she wanted. 15 minutes before she went up the stage to get her scroll, Haslina’s beloved father passed away. Haslina’s father, Kalang Tona was battling a stroke and she was hesitant to attend her graduation at Universiti Sultan Zainal Abidin in Kuala Terengganu.
The news broke Haslina’s heart but she did her best to stay strong and went up the stage to receive her degree certificate.Haslina has yet to get herself a job following the completion of her studies because she dedicated most of her time to taking care of her ill father. She was accompanied by her eldest sister during the convocation. In the meantime, the university management also aided Haslina financially before she returned to Sabah.
