PETALING JAYA: Three more cases of Covid-19 with high infectivity have been detected in connection with the recent special Parliament sitting, bringing the total count to 88 as of Sunday (Aug 8), says the Health Ministry.
"The three cases were reported on Aug 7 and have a cycle threshold value between 19.15 and 22.2, meaning high infectivity," said Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.
"The Institute for Medical Research is carrying out whole genomic sequencing and is still waiting for the final results."According to our investigations, they also took precautionary measures by self-quarantining after returning from the Parliament sitting so that they do not infect their family members," he said in a statement on Sunday.
He added that investigations to identify close contacts related to the special Parliament sitting are currently being conducted by the relevant district Health office. Dr Noor Hisham also advised all those who were present in Parliament during the special sitting to continue monitoring their own health by using the MySejahtera app and take a Covid-19 test if they experienced any symptoms.
