PETALING JAYA: As clusters begin to grow and the number of new cases increases daily, Health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah welcomes the government’s move to scrap home quarantine for returnees from abroad.

“Three out of the 13 clusters are related to local transmissions of Covid-19 cases from imported cases, namely the clusters of Novgorod PUI, Shirala PUI and Pitakwa PUI,” said Dr Noor Hisham.

Dr Noor Hisham said that there are also currently 19 active clusters, with 13 of them recorded within just the last 10 ten days.Dr Noor Hisham said even if the government quarantined the returnees from abroad at the centres, the disease could still spread if they congregated. Dr Noor Hisham added that there are also currently nine clusters which are from local transmissions and had no links to imported cases, said Dr Noor Hisham.
