NRL: Roosters start recruit Dominic Young will miss England's series against Tonga after a serious infection.

League legend Greg Alexander is backing Ryan Papenhuyzen to bounce back for the Storm this season, despite reports he’d been offered to a rival club.

Storm powerbrokers scoffed at suggestions they wanted to release the gun fullback, but the club already have Nick Meaney and rising star Sualauvi Faalogo also vying for the No.1.Papenhuyzen has battled with several injuries this season and suffered a horror ankle break in his third game gack from a knee injury.

“I think he’ll be back , I saw him last Friday, he was very confident that he’d be back running after Christmas and ready to go,” Alexander said on“The knee will have more time to heal, he said the only worry is the fact that it is the same leg, the broken ankle was the same as the knee. The Storm handed Papenhuyzen a a three-year extension worth around $2 million in 2021 and he is one of the NRL’s most marketable players.

“By the time he gets back on the field after another off-season, even though it’s an injured off-season, I don’t think that will be an issue, the knee.”
