HCC partners with nonprofit to fill 500 clinical nursing assistant positions
that Texas will be short of 57,000 registered nurses and almost 13,000 licensed vocational nurses by 2032. While clinical nursing assistant positions won’t directly fill those shortages, HCC academic leaders said they are still sorely needed and could serve as the first step in gaining higher certification or degrees.

Dwyer has a caseworker in Texas to work with students’ individualized needs, Clapp said. Director of Case Management Sherna’ Barksdale said she most often sees potential students ask for help with transportation and childcare.
