While the futures of numerous DC and HBO Max projects are uncertain, the in-development Constantine series is reportedly still moving forward.

The Constantine series at HBO Max appears to be safe despite the recent uncertainty at DC. It has certainly been a strange week for DC fans. Warner Bros. Discovery's decision to cancel Batgirl after having already filmed the movie sent shockwaves through the film industry, and it was somehow only the beginning of a new, strange period for the onscreen DC universe.

In the wake of Batgirl's cancellation, more rumors started to circulate about the fate of other DC projects that were greenlit under the previous regime. Reports suggest the planned Supergirl movie starring Sasha Calle has been scrapped. Kevin Smith revealed that the series Strange Adventures has been canceled and hinted that the upcoming Green Lantern series might also suffer the same fate. With Warner Bros.

The news is certainly a relief for DC fans, but is also somewhat shocking considering that HBO Max scrapped plans for Abrams' series Demimonde. A recent report said that Warner Bros. Discovery was frustrated with Abrams' lack of development on various DC projects since signing his five-year deal with the studio back in 2019. In regards to Constantine, the series was rumored to be circling Ṣọpẹ́ Dìrísù for the lead role, but nothing official has been announced.

Constantine appears to be a property of high importance to Warner Bros. Discovery and DC. With other projects falling to the wayside, perhaps development on this one could speed up in the coming months. While Constantine appears to be on steady ground for the moment, if the Batgirl situation has taught audiences anything, it is that no project is truly safe until it is released. Even then, with various original movies and television shows being taken off HBO Max, the future for Warner Bros.
