KUALA LUMPUR (Bernama): In view of the current hazy situation with the current Air Pollutant Index (API) reading here above 200 (very unhealthy), the Youth and Sports Ministry will implement a 'Work from Home' policy.

KUALA LUMPUR : In view of the current hazy situation with the current Air Pollutant Index reading here above 200 , the Youth and Sports Ministry will implement a"Work from Home" policy., in a statement Wednesday , said the ministry would distribute circulars to ensure the policy could be implemented as many ministry staff worked outside and were exposed to haze hazards.

"The ministry is aware of the dangers and threats of haze to all its employees. This policy is implemented to safeguard the health of ministry employees and is in line with the closure of schools in affected areas, ” he said. He said the ministry believed the move was a necessity and that it could be applied in other ministries and government agencies.

Based on the API readings from the Malaysian Air Pollution Index Management System portal at 6pm, nine areas recorded extremely poor air quality namely Kulim Hi-Tech, Kedah ; Minden and Balik Pulau, Penang ; Petaling Jaya , Johan Setia Klang , Shah Alam, Selangor ; Nilai, Negeri Sembilan ; Sri Aman and Kuching, Sarawak .

An API reading of zero to 50 indicates good air quality; 51 to 100 ; 101 to 200 , 201 to 300 and 301 and above . - Bernama
