GEORGE TOWN: A few flights have had to be delayed at Penang International Airport, and should visibility drops to below 800m, the airport will have to shut.

Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd senior manager Mohd Nadzim Hashim said visibility was now 1.5km, while the visual range for the runway was 1.7km.He said two flights from Kuala Namu in Medan and Kuala Lumpur had to return to their bases due to the low visibility.

However, there have been no flight cancellations so far.On Tuesday at 10.28pm, MAHB issued a Twitter post announcing that four commercial flights were affected and urged passengers to contact the respective airlines for alternative arrangements.From an Air Pollutant Index reading of 204 at 7am in Balik Pulau, it became 261 at 2pm.
