The investigation came together after police were able to view the entire attack on surveillance video, according to charging documents.

A man killed at Hall Manor earlier this month brought a knife to a confrontation, but it was taken from him before he was stabbed 18 times, and now police have arrested his assailant.resulted in the death of 53-year-old Edwin Torres-Martinez,Officers were called to the housing complex, between rows 15 and 16, just before 6 p.m. Nov. 12, according to police.

After Echevarria-Rivera and his relative reached Torres-Martinez, the older man could be seen swinging what appears to be a knife in their direction. Echevarria-Rivera backed up while the other man punched Torres-Martinez in the face and tackled him to the ground. When investigators spoke with one witness, she said Torres-Martinez had been at her house near the scene, smoking a cigarette on the porch that afternoon.

He described the person who stabbed him as the one with a cut to his neck but said he didn’t know the man’s name. Charging documents note that investigators believe the third man was cut by the knife when he tackled Torres-Martinez, and was treated at a hospital for stab and cut wounds.
