China sees no problem with United States Vice President Kamala Harris’ visit to the Philippines, particularly to Palawan, the province closest to the disputed South China Sea.
Quoting Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning, the Chinese embassy in Manila said it is fine with the government as long as it is “good for regional peace and stability and not damaging to other countries’ interest.”The friendly remark was opposite to China’s response when US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi visited Taiwan in August, an activity that allegedly interfered with China’s internal affairs.
Angered, China fired a dozen of missiles as part of its military activity that reportedly landed even on the waters off Taiwan and Japan.
