Happy Gilmore, an Indiana high school golfer with the same name as the 1996 Adam Sandler movie, announced his commitment to play Division I college golf at Ball State University on Friday.. “I would like to thank my family, my friends and coaches who push me everyday!”
Gilmore, whose real name is actually Landon, started competing in golf tournaments around the age of 6 and immediately got the nickname “Happy,” after the famous golf comedy. Hearing the news of the high schooler, the Hollywood star responded to the commitment tweet with some positivity and encouragement.The rest of Twitter had a field day with the announcement, with plenty of users making references to the flick.
