Hannah Yeoh , the Youth and Sports Minister, has publicly discussed the burnout and health issues she faced in 2024. In a December 29 Instagram post, Yeoh, 45, revealed that her demanding work ethic, driven by efficiency and packed schedules, led to burnout. She sought to avoid 'shortchanging the rakyat' (people). Her health suffered as a result. During a January cabinet retreat, a severe headache led to a doctor checking her blood pressure , revealing alarmingly high readings.
She immediately began taking medication. Throughout the year, Yeoh visited Putrajaya Hospital frequently for intense eczema flare-ups. She also experienced debilitating neck pain, eventually resorting to a neck brace due to excessive phone use. At 45, Yeoh acknowledged the need for reading glasses. Yeoh shared photos documenting her blood pressure readings and eczema flare-ups. Beyond physical health challenges, Yeoh spent considerable time in courtrooms defending her faith. The year also brought emotional strain during the Paris Olympics and Paralympics, where she passionately supported Malaysian athletes, often ending her days in tears, sharing their disappointments
