KOTA KINABALU: Growing public complaints on the poor management of Sabah's iconic Tanjung Aru beach will be looked into, says Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor.
"We will look at all of it," he said here on Thursday when asked about complaints that the current management of the Tanjung Aru Eco-Development project was lacking in transparency with most parts of the beach front covered with overgrowth. The Chief Minister, however, said that the TAED was working on a development proposal for the area that should be ready by next year.
They claimed that TAED was cashing in on the popular picnic hangout by introducing parking charges and allowing stalls to operate without proper amenities, including tap water. They said that TAED also did not respond to constant public queries although the company from time to time arbitrarily set rules and closed off areas.
The project remained on the backburner under TAED although the area was under Kota Kinabalu City Hall before TAED took over management of the area for a scaled-down development of the area.
