Kota Kinabalu: Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor called on civil servants to engage in sports and maintain their health as the State Government needs quality workforce to deliver its services.
He said the Chief Minister’s Department , as the leading organisation in the State Government’s administration, especially requires a workforce that is fast and effective.“In efforts to make the Sabah Maju Jaya Development Plan a success, we require civil servants who are healthy, intelligent, efficient and capable of being competitive.
A total of 10 types of sports were contested in the bi-annual sports tournament, which was participated by six teams namely the Chief Minister’s Department , City Hall , Land and Surveys Department, Sabah Forestry, Yayasan Sabah and Sawit Kinabalu. He added that the sports festival, which was established in 1999, can further strengthen cooperation, increase team spirit and sportsmanship among JKM employees, thus encouraging and cultivating a healthy lifestyle through sports activities. Hajiji also hoped that the sports festival can encourage the public service to maintain good physical, mental, social and spiritual health and hence work better.
