San Antonio-based H-E-B said it will add more fresh food options to its 12 convenience stores across Texas. Some will include True Texas Tacos.

All will have more produce, prepared food and grab-and-go meals such as salads, sandwiches, sushi, meat and cheese snacks, fresh juices, kombucha and Meal Simple products, H-E-B said. The stores also offer gas stations and car washes; two offer national brand fast-food options. “At H-E-B, we’re always looking to provide Texans convenient ways to get their hands on quality, fresh foods that are good for them,” Scott Campbell, H-E-B convenience store operations manager, said in a statement. “With the introduction of H-E-B Fresh Bites, we’re bringing the freshest products to our customers who are on the go but want a better alternative to traditional convenience store snacks.
The new store in Leander opened last week, but H-E-B said no timeline has been set for the redesign and rebranding of the 11 existing stores.The company has been adding more experiential offerings at stores, including True Texas BBQ restaurants, brand shops with H-E-B-themed merchandise and home departments.
