The GWM Wey 80, a seven-seater hybrid MPV, will be assembled in Malaysia by the end of 2025. The CKD programme will be based at the Hicom Pegoh Industrial Park in Melaka.

The GWM Wey 80 MPV is set to be assembled in Malaysia through a CKD (Completely Knocked Down) program starting by the end of 2025. The assembly will take place at the Hicom Pegoh Industrial Park in Melaka. This move was confirmed by EPMB ( Malaysia 's national automotive company) in a fact sheet accompanying their press statement on achieving a production milestone. The MPV is intended for the ASEAN market, suggesting its availability in neighboring countries.

Currently, the Wey 80 is not available in right-hand drive (RHD) form, but this will change with the Malaysian assembly. The seven-seater MPV boasts dimensions of 5,045 mm long, 1,960 mm wide, and 1,900 mm tall, with a 3,085 mm wheelbase. It was showcased at the 2024 Kuala Lumpur International Mobility Show (KLIMS) in its standard wheelbase form. A long-wheelbase version also exists, though it's unclear if Malaysia will receive it. The Malaysian-spec Wey 80 is likely to feature the Hi4 plug-in hybrid system, which consists of a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine (154 hp) paired with two electric motors (174 hp at the front and 181 hp at the rear). This combination provides a total system output of 480 hp and 762 Nm of torque. A 37.96 kWh ternary lithium battery offers up to 140 km of electric-only range. The interior highlights include quilted leather upholstery and zero-gravity seats, with the second-row captain chairs featuring foldable tables
