Great Wall Motors (GWM) has confirmed the arrival of the sporty Good Cat GT electric hatchback in Malaysia. The launch date and pricing are yet to be revealed, but the upcoming Malaysia Autoshow 2025 is a likely candidate for the official unveiling. The Good Cat GT boasts a more powerful electric motor, aggressive styling, and a sporty cabin, setting it apart from the regular Good Cat variants.
Great Wall Motors ( GWM ) has announced its plans to introduce the Good Cat GT electric hatchback to the Malaysian market soon. The revelation came during a dinner event with Malaysian media representatives earlier this week. While GWM Malaysia refrained from disclosing the launch date or pricing details for the Good Cat GT in Malaysia, the upcoming Malaysia Autoshow 2025 , scheduled for next month, appears to be the most likely platform for the vehicle's official debut.
Visually, the Good Cat GT distinguishes itself from its standard counterparts with distinctive elements that scream performance. A prominent GT emblem adorns its rear, while aggressive styling cues, encompassing GT-exclusive bumpers, a sporty spoiler, and a unique wheel design, further solidify its sporty identity. Stepping inside, the compact electric hatchback boasts a pair of sporty seats for the driver and front passenger, each featuring a GT logo embroidered on the headrest. While maintaining a dual-tone interior color scheme like the Pro and Ultra versions, the GT variant differentiates itself with a striking black and yellow color combination.Under the hood, the Good Cat GT boasts a more potent electric motor compared to its Malaysian counterparts. In Thailand, the GT variant is equipped with a 128kW (172hp) electric motor, delivering 250Nm of torque, a significant upgrade over the 105kW (141hp) electric motor with 210Nm of torque found in the existing non-GT variants sold in Malaysia. Notably, the Thai-spec GT is fitted with a smaller 57.70kWh LFP battery instead of the 63.139kWh ternary lithium battery found on the Ultra variant in Malaysia. This translates to a lower NEDC-rated range of 460km for the Thai Good Cat GT compared to the 500km range offered by the Malaysian Ultra variant. While the 500 Ultra variant carries a current price point, prospective buyers may find opportunities to acquire either variant at slightly reduced prices through promotional discounts. As of now, the pricing for the Good Cat GT in Malaysia remains shrouded in mystery, but it is anticipated to command a premium over the Ultra variant.
