Homers by Bo Naylor, Tyler Freeman power Guardians to win.
The Guardians have been last in the big leagues all season in homers. Last season they finished second last. But Friday night the long ball served them well.
Naylor’s 11th homer of the season was his fourth in September and first against a left-hander. The homer gave him 14 RBI in September. Freeman’s three-run homer in the third pushed the lead to 6-2. Laureano drew his second leadoff walk in as many innings. Andres Gimenez reached on an infield hit to the third base side of the mound. Freeman sent Wentz’s 1-1 pitch into the left field seats for his third homer and second in September.Bo Naylor doubled into the right field corner with one out. Straw lined a single into right field that Kerry Carpenter mishandled as Naylor scored and Straw went to second.
Since coming off the injured list on Sept. 1, Quantrill is 2-1 with a 2.76 ERA in six starts. He is 2-0 against the Tigers this year.
