Cam Gallagher exited Wednesday's game to undergo further testing, the team said.
Cleveland Guardians catcher Cam Gallagher exited Wednesday's game against Cincinnati in the third inning.CLEVELAND, Ohio — Guardians catcher Cam Gallagher left Wednesday’s game against Cincinnati in the third inning to undergo testing for a possible head injury, the team said.
Gallagher, 30, took a foul tip below the mask off the bat of Reds outfielder Stuart Fairchild in the second inning. Gallagher finished the inning, but was replaced in the bottom of the third by Bo Naylor behind the plate. If Gallagher has to miss time or go into Major League Baseball’s concussion protocol, it could leave Cleveland thin at the catching position. No. 3 catcher David Fry is currently on the 10-day injured list with a sore left hamstring. The Guardians released free agent Mike Zunino in June when they recalled Naylor to the active roster.“I think he’s OK,” said manager Terry Francona, when asked about Gallagher after the game. “It’s kind of a gray area. We really don’t know.
