PETALING JAYA: Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng took Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man to task today following the PAS deputy president’s claim that only RM10 million was allocated for Penang’s halal industry compared to RM10 billion for the state’s overall development.
He said the funds allocated for development in Penang amounted to RM979.5 million, not RM10 billion, and that RM125.2 million was set aside for the halal industry. “Or do PAS leaders have the right to make false claims and evil accusations against me just because I am a non-Muslim who does not deserve to hold the position of finance minister?”
He said the 2020 Budget was a failure, giving the example of Penang, which he said was allocated RM10 billion for development while the halal industry which was given RM10 million.
