“They must double their efforts and commence in adapting the recommendations we presented in a dialogue with them last year,” said Enough is Enough in a statement issued Friday, May 5.
“We deem this utterly horrific and abhorrent incident a major wake-up call for education officials as safe space and gender equality advocates push for reforms in national policies and school protocols to ensure stricter implementation of and even amendments to the Safe Space law,” EIE said. The group pointed out that the fact that the “victim resorted to reporting the incident to her mother only after her classes is indicative that the supposed help desk is non-existent and the victim felt unsafe and distrusted school authorities.”
