An E. coli outbreak affecting 109 people in six states has been traced back to ground beef as the likely source, the CDC said.

No brand or common supplier has yet been identified for distributing the tainted beef yet. It is an ongoing investigation. "Seventeen people have been hospitalized. No cases of hemolytic uremic syndrome, a type of kidney failure, have been reported. No deaths have been reported," the CDC said.investigation began on March 28, after authorities in Kentucky and Georgia reported infections to the CDC.or advise retailers to stop serving or selling ground beef.
