The climate campaigner was detained among a group of activists protesting against the expansion of a coal mine in the west of the country.
Climate campaigner Greta Thunberg was detained alongside a group of activists on Tuesday during protests against the demolition of the coal village of Luetzerath, according to police.
Thunberg was detained while protesting at the open cast coal mine of Garzweiler 2, some 9 kilometres from Luetzerath, where she sat with a group of protesters near the edge of the mine.
