The Sydney MP at the centre of a homophobic tweet by Mark Latham has labelled One Nation leader Pauline Hanson’s demands for an apology from her state counterpart as nothing more than hot air.
In a since-deleted tweet posted on Thursday, the New South Wales One Nation leader made a homophobic and graphic remark directed at Mr Greenwich in response to an article where the Sydney MP had called Mr Latham “a disgusting human”.
Mark Latham's remarks about Sydney MP Alex Greenwich have been met with widespread condemnation by people across the political aisle. Picture: Julian Andrews/Daily Telegraph “Pauline Hanson’s words are empty words,” Mr Greenwich said, adding that he had no contact with the One Nation leader since the tweet.
While admitting the homophobic comments were"extremely hurtful", Mr Greenwich in a press conference kept his commentary on Mr Latham to a minimum, preferring to instead to focus on his legislative agenda for the upcoming parliament.
