Green River killer | How one serial killer helped catch another

on CBS Justice , focuses on one of America's most prolific murderers.Eventually, another famous serial killer offered detectives his help, advising them on the killer's motivation and how to tune in to his way of thinking.

Detectives first realised they had a serial killer on their hands when five bodies were discovered near Washington's Green River in 1982. All the women had been killed by strangulation, some by hand and some with their own clothing items. They had also been sexually assaulted. After his second marriage , Ridgway became deeply religious, reading the Bible aloud at home and insisting his wife follow the strict teachings of their church. He was also said to have an insatiable sexual appetite, and it's thought he was often torn between his religious beliefs and sexual urges, often blaming prostitutes for enticing him.

Eventually, another famous serial killer offered detectives his help, advising them on the killer's motivation and how to tune in to his way of thinking. Much of what he said turned out to be true, helping the investigation immensely.
