Dozens of passengers have been injured as two trains collided, leading to a fiery derailment, in northern Greece. 7NEWS
reported more than 60 people are believed to be injured as of 1.50am local time and several are feared dead.Fire and ambulance services from several nearby towns are helping transport injured passengers and free others trapped in the wreckage.
Government officials said the army has been contacted to assist in the rescue and two additional hospitals in the nearby city of Larissa had been placed on emergency duty. Footage of the wreckage revealed derailed carriages with broken windows and thick plumes of smoke billowing in the air, as well as debris strewn across the road.“There was panic in the carriage, people were screaming,” a young man who was evacuated to safety under a nearby bridge told SKAI TV.
