Nearly six decades after Fire Station No. 5 was built, a new location has been constructed and unveiled in Saskatoon.

In 2014, the decision was made using computer-generated modelling and mapping to relocate it closer to the intersection of College Drive and Preston Avenue to ensure fire crews meet their safety goal of a four-minute travel time, Chief Morgan Hackl said.
“The establishment of the new fire station is the latest development in our longstanding relationship with the City of Saskatoon,” Stoicheff said. — The new 930-square-metre, two-storey station contains two bays that will house one operational fire engine and two reserve apparatus. It will be staffed on a 24-hour basis with a crew of up to two firefighter-paramedics, two firefighters and one officer — with two fire inspectors present during daytime hours.Article content
