A team from Grace Charity Fund of Grace Chapel Luyang (Chinese) brought cheer to four charitable houses recently – Seri Mengasih, Sabah Cheshire Home, Bukit Harapan Therapy Community and Bakti Harapan.
Kota Kinabalu: .Except for Bakti Harapan which received RM10,000 the rest received RM15,000. Grace Chapel noted that due to the two-year pandemic lockdown, many Homes are in dire need of funds. The first stop was Seri Mengasih in Tanjung Aru, a charity non-government organisation with a special day training centre and specialised training for students with intellectual and developmental disabilities from as young as four years old to adulthood.
Over the past 30 years, the services have been expanded to early education, as an early Intervention centre and a Nursery in 2013.In 2020, a livelihood programme in Economics Empowerment was introduced where handicraft making was taught, baking and now even a Cheshire Launderettes. The work of the Home was appreciated but the funding needs were great. Bukit Harapan Therapy Community founded by Anne keyworth a.k.a Mama Anne, with the intention to care and educate special children.
