The incentives for doctors to treat families with young kids, pensioners and concession cardholders will be expanded as part of a $3.5 billion plan to improve Medicare.
Doctors will be paid three times as much to bulk-bill families with young children, pensioners and concession cardholders, as part of a plan to improve GP access with no out-of-pocket costs for 11.6 million people., as the government significantly expands spending on aged care services and improves access to critical medicines.
It will also apply to other face-to-face consultations and longer appointments where a patient is registered with their GP practice through the new MyMedicare service, which is designed to link patients with a regular doctor to better manage complex conditions.
