THE national government has provided P57.6 million worth of assistance to victims of the Mayon Volcano eruption, according to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) on Saturday.

At the same time, the NDRRMC said that based on its latest situational report, 10,123 families or 38,978 individuals in eight cities and municipalities that include 26 villages have been affected and are housed in 27 evacuation centers across Albay.The NDRRMC said lava continues to flow out of Mayon Volcano's crater with two volcanic earthquakes and 280 rockfall events recorded in the past 24 hours.

As of 8 a.m. on Saturday, Mayon Volcano is at Alert Level 3 which means that it is currently in 'a relatively high level of unrest as magma is at the crater and hazardous eruption is possible within weeks or even days.'The Office of Civil Defense said it continues to extend assistance to affected residents in Albay.The OCD said it has provided P13 million worth of assistance from the P9 million initially distributed.
