Govt red tape slowed GPs’ role in giving Covid-19 vaccines, says MMA

The late engagement of GPs and the slow immunisation programme are reasons why, after multiple movement-controls, Malaysia has failed to bring down the number of Covid-19 infections, says MMA. – The Malaysian Insight pic by Najjua Zulkefli, June 1, 2021.

PRIVATE general practitioners were ready to administer Covid-19 vaccines since early May but found red tape a hindrance, the Malaysian Medical Association said. Its president Dr Subramaniam Muniandy, in a statement, questioned the slowness of the Health Ministry and the Special Committee on Covid-19 Vaccine Supply Access Guarantee, adding that it had written to Khairy Jamaluddin on March 2 on this matter, but did not receive a reply.
