Govt must ‘banish’ the ‘ideological refrain’ of no new coal and gas

The “intermittent” sources of energy Labor has been “intent on investing in” have been “unreliable” as Australian power shortages are predicted for this winter, says Lawyer Justin McGovern.

“What needs to be done is to banish this ideological refrain of no new coal and gas,” Mr McGovern told Sky News host Amanda Stoker.

“Even here in New South Wales, the Greens are trying to make it a condition of supporting a Labor minority government that they will have no new coal and gas projects. “The reality is that the lack of investment in infrastructure particularly with respect to gas, has caused a lack of reliability which has flow-on effects to the grid – which now has led to his gold plated approach to the transmission lines.”
