GEORGE TOWN: The Education Ministry will look into a proposal to introduce a group accident protection scheme for teachers who accompany students to programmes held outside their school.

“Yayasan Guru Malaysia Bhd has been asked to discuss the matter in detail,” he told reporters after launching Festival Guru Malaysia in Bayan Lepas yesterday on behalf of Education Minister Dr Maszlee Malik. National Union of the Teaching Profession secretary-general Harry Tan agreed with the proposal, saying that the group accident protection scheme should be given to all teachers.
“We don’t have a shortage of English language teachers as we have interim teachers and non-English option teachers,” he said.
