Govt approves RM15.75mil for Chinese independent schools FMTNews
Transport minister Loke Siew Fook said the funds for Chinese schools were approved by Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, who is also the finance minister.
PETALING JAYA: Transport minister Loke Siew Fook said the government has approved an allocation of RM15.75 million for the 63 independent Chinese schools nationwide. In a statement, Loke said the request by Dong Zong president Tan Tai Kim for the funding was approved by Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, who is also the finance minister.
“Each school will receive RM250,000. This will be disbursed to the respective school boards, two weeks after the Hari Raya holidays,” he said.According to Sin Chew Daily, RM15 million was allocated for independent Chinese schools in 2021. The same amount was also allocated in 2022.
