The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability (NRES) is preparing to implement intervention measures, including cloud seeding, to mitigate the impact of the prolonged hot weather affecting several states. The measures will be based on data and technical reports from relevant agencies. MetMalaysia will provide accurate weather information to support follow-up actions and early warnings.

The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment al Sustainability ( NRES ) is taking proactive steps to address the prolonged hot weather conditions impacting several states across the nation. Minister Datuk Seri Arthur Joseph Kurup announced that intervention measures, including cloud seeding operations, are being considered to alleviate the adverse effects, particularly on sectors like agriculture.

The implementation of these measures will be data-driven and informed by technical reports from relevant agencies, ensuring a targeted and effective response to the prevailing weather phenomenon. This commitment underscores the government's dedication to mitigating the impacts of climate change and protecting critical sectors from extreme weather events. The focus is on ensuring the well-being of the population and the continued functionality of vital industries.\The decision to potentially deploy cloud seeding operations is a key component of NRES's strategy. This approach aims to induce rainfall and replenish water resources in areas experiencing drought and water stress. The minister emphasized that the execution of these interventions will be contingent upon careful assessment of weather data and consultation with meteorological experts. The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) will remain a crucial partner, providing up-to-date weather information and forecasts to guide decision-making and support the public and relevant agencies. The collaboration between NRES, MetMalaysia, and other stakeholders highlights the importance of a coordinated and science-based approach to managing the challenges posed by extreme weather. The government is committed to acting swiftly and decisively to protect citizens and crucial sectors from the detrimental effects of the prolonged hot weather. \Furthermore, the minister highlighted the critical role of early warning systems in preparing for climate-related hazards. MetMalaysia will continue to provide timely and accurate weather updates, enabling agencies such as the National Disaster Management Agency (NADMA) and the Department of Agriculture to make necessary preparations and implement appropriate mitigation strategies. The ability to anticipate and respond effectively to extreme weather events is vital for safeguarding lives, protecting property, and ensuring the resilience of essential services. The persistent hot weather, projected to continue until the onset of the Southwest Monsoon in June due to drier atmospheric conditions and reduced rainfall, demands constant vigilance and proactive measures. The government’s proactive measures, coupled with early warning systems, seek to minimize the disruption caused by the adverse weather conditions. The strategies also seek to support the agricultural sector and ensure food security for the country. The collaborative effort amongst the government agencies shows the effort to combat climate change
