RM100000 annually. Now, the Ministry of Finance has commented on the initiative, saying that it is ready to expedite the e-Tunai's rollout.
This is according to Deputy Finance Minister I Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan, who lauded the initiative for further educating Malaysians on the digital economy. As reported by Berita Harian, Ahmad said that the e-Tunai rollout and similar initiatives in the past help our country to achieve a digital economy and move towards a ’cashless society’.
The MOF Deputy Minister I also asserted that the latest information regarding the e-Tunai initiative would be announced from time to time. Ahmad added that while the RM100 figure seems small, the concepts of a digital economy and a cashless society are important in educating the people on the economy of the future.
As of the time of writing, the timeframe and rollout method of the e-Tunai initiative are yet to be announced. When announcing it on Thursday , Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, who is also the Finance Minister said that it would benefit approximately 10 million Malaysians from the B40 and M40 category, involving RM1 billion.
