The governor's office said one Huntingdon County firefighter died on Tuesday, Dec. 6, while two from Lehigh County, died in a Schuylkill County fire on Dec. 7.
Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Wolf has ordered the state flag to be flown at half-staff in honor of three firefighters that died in the line of duty this week.
The governor’s office said Kurt Keilhofer of Mapleton Fire Department in Huntingdon County, died on Tuesday, Dec. 6, when he was struck and killed while responding to a vehicle accident in Union Twp.after they became trapped in a burning house in West Penn Twp. near Tamaqua in Schuylkill County.The United States flag shall remain at full staff during this tribute, the governor’s office said.
On Tuesday, Dec. 6, Wolf had ordered state flags at the Capitol Complex and at all commonwealth facilities in Berks County be flown at half-staff to honor Berks County Court of Common Pleas Judge Paul M. Yatron who died on that day. Yesterday, Wolf and President Joe Biden had ordered state and federal flags to fly at half-staff until sunset in honor of Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day.
