There have been a lot of talks about ChatGPT recently and whether it was a coincidence or not, Google just announced its own OpenAI chatbot. Promptly called Bard, Google's AI service will be unveiled in the next few weeks.
Announced on its blog news page, Google has been experimenting with a conversational AI service, powered by LaMDA and it's currently opened up for testers before releasing it to the public. Similarly to ChatGPT, Bard"draws on information from the web to provide fresh, high-quality responses". Google will release Bard with a lightweight LaMDA model version as it requires less computing power. This will also allow Bard to reach out to more users and get more feedback. Also, the GIF file above shows Bard designed to simplify complex topics, such as explaining NASA's James Webb Space Telescope to a child.
In case you didn't know, Google has worked on Google AI and DeepMind and collaborated with Blizzard Entertainment using StarCraft II for AI research. The company is continuing to build up LaMDA, PaLM, Imagen and MusicLM to create and engage with information in various new ways. This includes language, images, video, audio and others.
