Sky News host Paul Murray says 92 per cent of people say the cost of living is their number one priority as a voter and it should be the focus of the federal government. The Reserve Bank of Australia is set to meet infrequently now – eight times per year rather than the previous 11. “Cost of living … guess what’s about to go through the roof, because it is already,” Mr Murray said. “Petrol is going up again, now obviously this is terrible for anyone who’s got to pay for it … well petrol prices are also included in what’s called the ‘basket of goods’ that they decide what leads into inflation. “Of course when inflation goes up, the Reserve Bank turns around, has to make its decision, you end up getting the same or higher interest rates.”
