The Digital Ministry today announced that the ‘AI untuk Rakyat’ programme has reached a historic milestone, whereby over 1 million Malaysians have completed the transformative self-learning online initiative in less than 6 months after its launch. Achieving the milestone in record time, Digital Minister Gobind Singh Deo said that the programme has surpassed its initial goal of reaching 1 million within 1 year.

In a press release, Gobind elaborated that the programme was launched on 16 January by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim to underscore the government’s unwavering dedication to equipping Malaysians with essential knowledge about AI. Furthermore, ‘AI untuk Rakyat’ is a collaborative effort between the Malaysian government, through the Malaysia Centre for Fourth Industrial Revolution hosted by MyDIGITALCorporation and technology partner Intel Corporation.

Gobind said that the collaboration harnessed expertise and resources to create a comprehensive and accessible learning experience for Malaysians of diverse age groups, backgrounds, and geographical locations. Comprising 2 modules, namely AI Aware and AI Appreciate, participants receive digital badges upon successful completion of each module, highlighting their achievements in understanding and appreciating AI.

The programme also boasts inclusivity and multilingual access, offering content in Bahasa Malaysia, English, Tamil, and Mandarin. Accordingly, to further incentivise participation, the Ministry of Science, Technology, and Innovation , through the National Science Centre , offers free admission to PSN for badge-earners until 31 December 2024.
