Gloria announces $6M in COVID-19 relief grants for San Diego small businesses and nonprofits [Breaking]
San Diego Mayor Todd Gloria announced Tuesday that a city program has allocated $6 million in grants to help small businesses and nonprofits recovering from the pandemic.
The mayor’s “Back to Work SD” budget allocated $10 million in financial aid to small businesses and nonprofits hit by the pandemic and those in historically underinvested neighborhoods. The San Diego Foundation provided an additional $2 million to support local nonprofits.share of the grants. Tuesday at the Sherman Heights Community Center he announced that the other half of the funding was awarded to both local small businesses and nonprofits.
The small businesses that received funding were prioritized by those who haven’t received prior COVID-19 relief funding and are located in a low-to-moderate income area. Relief grants were also given to highly impacted industries like tourism or salons and to establishments owned by historically underrepresented populations like people of color and women.
