Two of the top-ranked volleyball teams in New Jersey battled for the No. 1 spot.

“Over the past two weeks, Eric [Maxwell] and I have gone back and forth regarding our schedules. He asked me that if his team travels up to us, would we be interested in hosting a game on Saturday. Thankfully, we were able to make it happen and had a great turnout in our gym,” Yoo said.

It was a decent run that gave the Blue Eagles a rhythm, and they began to believe that they belonged in this game. “The one thing I continue to say to the girls is that if we stay disciplined on defense, we can go up against anyone in the state. We are hyper-focused on practicing defense and we think it’s paying off,” Yoo said.

Sobilo’s nine kills led all players, which is the second-highest total for her career. The left-hander is really coming into her own as a difficult opponent to slow down. Senior setter Kalena Stavish distributed 19 assists to six different Blue Eagles for the kill, excluding herself.
