Early second-half goal the difference as Dragons take command of division race

“ was our biggest goal this year and we’re on the right path so do it, but we have to keep pushing and keep our energy going,” Hicks said. “This was the one we needed the most, so it was a good win to get. We started out a little flat-footed today but we wanted to come out strong at the beginning of the half. said, ‘You’ve got to get it right away,’ and we came out and got it.”
The six previous meetings between the longtime rivals included two ties and four games decided by a single goal, including a 2-2 tie in this year’s season-opener on September 8. Another close battle was almost a given. Both teams are stingy defensively, but the Dragons have been especially tough. Their season-opening tie is the only time this season they’ve given up more than one goal in a game.
“We just really held our ground back there,” Lewis said. “They had a couple chances but I think our whole team works really well together defensively.”
