However, Sam Houston came out of the locker room fast, using stifling pressure to create turnovers and easy baskets at the offensive end to open up a 47-30 lead by the end of the third period. The Hurricanes then held Burbank to just two field goals in the fourth quarter to put an exclamation point on the district win.
Sam Houston had three players finish in double figures, led by Yazmin Brown's 20 points, 16 of which came in the first half. Chamariel Henderson and Cheyanne Mitchell had 14 apiece for the Hurricanes, with Henderson scoring 12 of her 14 in the fourth quarter.
