After the Tim Burton show held the spot for six weeks, GinnyAndGeorgia has knocked WednesdayNetflix from the top of Netflix's most-watched shows.
Ginny & Georgia season 2 is the new No. 1 English-speaking show on Netflix, dethroning Wednesday season 1 after the show's six-week run in the top spot. Created and executive produced by Sarah Lampert, Netflix’s Ginny & Georgia follows the misadventures of the titular mother and daughter duo as they attempt to fit into their new lives in Wellsbury while trying to keep their past under wraps.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY According to Netflix's in-house tracking, Ginny & Georgia season 2 knocked Wednesday season 1 from the top of their viewership chart for the week of January 2-8. Wednesday, which has secured a season 2, held the top spot for six consecutive weeks, dating back to the November 21-28 tracking period.
The early returns on season 2 are a promising sign for the show's future, though. It's the first show not named Wednesday to sit atop the streamer's weekly charts since November, and while it was more a matter of time before a new show took over, the drama-heavy Ginny & Georgia season 2 managed to do it in impressive and overwhelming fashion, considering its release halfway through the weekly tracking window.
Series creator Sarah Lampert recently expressed a sense of uncertainty pertaining to the potential of Ginny & Georgia season 3, but hitting the top of the weekly Netflix chart in the manner it has is a good way to pour some water on that lingering doubt. Though, it is still worth noting that Netflix has been unpredictable at times when making content-cutting decisions.
