The San Francisco exec said the disagreement with agent Scott Boras over former Astros shortstop's physical was not mirrored by internal dissension, and divulged how the team communicated with Brandon Crawford before the deal collapsed.

“Yeah, we’ve had some conversations,” Zaidi said on a video call with reporters Friday. “Since then, obviously, you know, we’ve been in touch with Boras on other players as well. But our understanding and, as it’s been reported, they’re focused on a deal elsewhere at this point. So I think chances of a deal with us at this point are pretty unlikely based on their position.”
The specific medical issue — which, as The Chronicle reported when the deal collapsed, is likely to be related to an ankle injury Correa incurred eight years ago — was based on new information, not older medical reports. Zaidi was clear that the team initially approved Correa based on his historical medical records, with any subsequent deal dependent on the outcome of a final physical.
“There was just 100% alignment,” Zaidi said. “So any suggestion to the contrary, that certain factions were more concerned than others, is just simply untrue.”
