Customers in central Pa. reported they couldn't use credit or debit cards at stores on Friday.
A credit card processing issue had Giant customers scrambling to get cash on Friday, according to reports.
Just before 6:30 p.m., The Giant Company spokeswoman Ashley Flower confirmed that there had been a problem, but it was resolved. Flower said the company’s credit card processor was experiencing a “widespread service issue” that was impacting Giant and other retailers’ ability to accept electronic payments from debit and credit cards. Instead, the stores could only accept cash and checks.
This led employees to alert customers to the issue as they were coming into stores around the region on Friday, which customers then shared on social media.It was unclear Friday how many stores were impacted by the outage or how long it lasted.
